OUR story

How it all began.

Hello! I’m so happy you’re here. My name is Arlania Lewis, founder of Kinesthetic Learner. I am a mother, wife, South Caroline native, business owner and life-long advocate for children. My journey in childcare services started in 2012 when I landed my first job in a daycare facility for young children. Through that experience, I learned the powerful impact that childcare can have in empowering children to blossom and reach their full potential. With my passion for early childhood care and development, I believed I would be able to create a safe and challenging space for children to learn and grow.

And that is what I did.

When I founded Kinesthetic Learner in 2019, I was caring for and teaching children from my very own home. I transformed my home into a fun, engaging and educational space for children to explore, learn and grow. Gradually, interest from parents and families in the Clemson area trickled in. One child turned to five children, which turned to ten children. Kinesthetic Learner began to expand and flourish! As a longtime childcare provider and the eldest child of 6 siblings, I was ready. I knew that providing childcare not only meant to cater to the needs and necessities of young children but also to empower them to blossom into curious, critical thinkers in today’s world.

After the birth of my son, I continued to build Kinesthetic Learner and moved to a bigger space to accommodate more families. I was fortunate enough to be able to continue working with my Kinesthetic Learner parents and providing childcare for their children as they grew into and out of their toddler years. As interest and enrollment grew, I took Kinesthetic Learner to the next step and invested in a larger space to provide more services and help more families. I am committed to creating an engaging, joyful and supportive childcare environment and will continue to grow Kinesthetic Learner for my community, for my families, for my children and for you.

Q.What is your discipline policy?

What if my child gets sick?

A.We do not use physical or verbal punishment under any circumstances. We use positive guidance and re-direction to acknowledge children’s feelings and emotions and provide them with social scripts, problem-solving techniques, self-calming activities and choices and activities geared toward their interests.

A.We’ll call you or a designated adult from your Emergency Information Form so that your child can be picked up as soon as possible from the center. While waiting to be picked up, your child will rest quietly, away from other children.

Q.What are teacher qualifications?

Q.Do you take the children outdoors?

A.All Kiddie Academy teachers must meet or exceed the state requirements for child care providers and are required to receive ongoing professional training annually. We also require background checks through local, county, state and/or federal agencies prior to employment.

A.Yes, weather permitting, we take children outside daily. Children should be dressed appropriately for playing on our playground or taking group walks.

Q.Does you have cameras in the classroom?

Q.Do you have parent-teacher conferences?

A.Yes. We schedule family/teacher conferences each year to discuss your child’s progress, but you can request a conference with the Director at any time.
